The controversy about the benefits and
hazards of fluoridation has come to an
end. The Cochrane Collaboration has
determined that fluoride shows no
benefit against dental cavities, leading
to the conclusion that the dumping of it
into public waterways and its use in
such items as toothpaste is one of the
biggest hoaxes ever perpetrated on
The Cochrane Collaboration of
doctors and researchers is well known for their comprehensive reviews. Newsweek
refers to them as the “gold standard of scientific rigor in assessing
effectiveness of public health policies”. This group reviewed virtually every
published study on fluoride to find out if it reduces cavities. After
collecting the studies that were most comprehensive, reliable, and done with
sound methodology, they analyzed them for evidence. Their conclusions were
presented in June of this year.
Just three studies published
since 1975 met their rigorous criteria. Each of these determined that
fluoridation does not reduce cavities in children’s permanent teeth. Two other
studies meeting their criteria and completed since 1975 found that fluoridation
had no statistically significant affect on reducing cavities in baby teeth as
well. In addition, insufficient evidence was found that fluoridation has any
positive impact on the teeth of adults.
As news of these findings spread,
the reaction was predictable. Thomas Zoeller, a scientist at UMass-Amherst in
the U.S. said, “This study does not support the use of fluoride in drinking
water.” Trevor Sheldon, dean of the Hull York Medical School in the U.K, came
to the same conclusion. He was leader of an advisory board’s systematic review
of water fluoridation conducted in 2000 that yielded results similar to those of
the Cochrane group. At that time he was shocked by the lack of evidence of
effectiveness at a time when so many people believed that fluoride could help
prevent cavities. “There’s really hardly any evidence” that fluoride has any
positive effect on teeth, he said.
Does ingestion of fluoride
actually promote more cavities? A study from 2001 meeting inclusion criteria
for the Cochrane Collaboration study compared the prevalence and incidence of
cavities between two communities in close proximity, one which had ended
fluoridation and one which had not. The researchers followed 5,927 children for
three years. At the end of that time, a slight reduction in cavity occurrence
was actually seen in the children living where fluoridation had been

Contrary to popular belief,
fluoride is far from being natural. It is industrial waste from the aluminum
and nuclear industries that industrialists would have to pay to get rid of.
Instead, the myth that it helps prevent cavities was created with the help from
the FDA, so this waste could actually be sold at a profit. Before that came
about, fluoride was used as rat and insect poison.
Fluoride was also used in Nazi
Germany in prisons and ghettos as a sterilization tool and to make their
populations docile, subservient and easy to control. It is a known carcinogen
and the main cause of the loss of the thyroid function which occurs primarily in

treatment affect children the most
Children seem to be the most
damaged by the fluoride given to them under the guise of avoiding cavities. A
study just published found that fluoride can be found in breast milk, so
newborns are being bombarded with it even before they have any teeth. We have
yet to document the effects of this, but the soaring rates of children diagnosed
with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, learning disabilities, and
behavior disorders have paralleled its use. Children are known to react in the
exact opposite way as adults do to chemicals, making is quite likely that while
adults are made docile by fluoride, children become hyperactive.
The dawn of the era of
fluoridation began in 1945 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. By 2008, more than 72
percent of the U.S. population served by public water systems were drinking
fluoridated water and bathing in it too. Although the first special education
classes began more than a hundred years ago, the life off in the numbers of
children placed in them did not occur until shortly after fluoridation began.
Before that, special education was primarily confined to children with birth
anomalies, those injured in accidents, and those who were blind or deaf. In the
2012-2013 school year, an astounding 13 percent of children attended special
A study published in 2014 from
the State University of New York found that the ingestion of fluoride may be
responsible for many premature births.
Skiers paradise and home to the
affluent and influential, Snowmass, Colorado announced only days ago it will no
longer fluoridate its water. One of the munipal leaders said it was not their
place to medicate the public. This news came on the heels of the Cochrane
Collaboration's findings. Will your city or town be next?
