Fever, also known pyrexia is a febrile response to an underlying medical condition in the body. Fever is not always bad. Many times it is the way by which the body eliminates bacteria and viruses which cause the underlying conditions.
Drink lots of water to compensate for the loss of body fluid. This will also help to reduce the body temperature. To immediately reduce high body temperature, boil powder of 2 to 3 tsp dry roasted fenugreek seeds. Strain the water and add a drop of clarified butter to it and drink. Drink juice made out of sweet basil leaves twice or thrice a day. Prepare linden tea by boiling 1 tbsp of linden flower in 1 cup of water and drink it hot. Brew willow bark tea and drink it by taking small sips. Willow bark has some aspirin related compound. If you are not comfortable with it then use black elder.
Prefer liquid food over solid food. Eat foods that are easily digestible. Eat boiled or steamed vegetables, vegetable soup, honey and yogurt. Eat fresh fruits and drink fresh fruit juices. Drink cows milk in small quantity 2 to 3 times a day. Eat rice cooked with lentils with spices like cumin seeds, ginger, turmeric, coriander, and salt added to it. Completely avoid heavy foods like fast food, chicken, fish, raw foods and fried foods.
lMaintaining your fever, rather than breaking it right away, can fight the virus that's making you sick. If you have a mild fever (up to 100 degrees), wrap yourself in a blanket and drink a cup of yarrow tea (Achillea millefolium). Make the tea by steeping two yarrow tea bags or two teaspoons dried yarrow in one cup boiling hot water for 15 minutes. Reheat it until it's piping hot, and sip it slowly. Your temperature may rise or fall a degree as you start to sweat. If your starting temperature is 10oneto 103, drink the tea but skip the blanket. Check your temperature every 30 minutes throughout this process. Eventually your temperature should drop. If your starting temperature is 104 or more, or if the tea-drinking brings your temperature to 104 or more, call your doctor, preferably one who is also trained as a naturopathic doctor. Don't do this with babies or children, or if you're pregnant; consult your doctor, preferably one who is also trained as a naturopathic doctor instead.
lDry powdered Jell-O, crushed ice. When children or even adults get the flu and fever, one of the most important things is to keep fluids in the system. Many times a fever will create nausea and no matter what goes in the stomach, it always seems to come back up, with dry heaves or vomiting. Try this old family remedy. Take some dry powdered Jell-O mix (any flavor) and put it in a mug of crushed ice, Toss it around in the mug, so the powdered Jell-O is all wet from the ice. Then give the mug and a spoon to the patient with the fever and flu. Let them chew the ice and suck on it at their own pace. The dry Jell-O coagulates in the stomach and helps keep the fluids in. It also helps keep the patient from vomiting and having dry heaves. Simple and effective.
lIf the fever is mild, lie on a bed and completely cover yourself with a blanket for 20 minutes. Crush 10 grams of raisins and ginger. Boil them in 200 ml of water till it reduces to 50 ml. Strain and drink this solution warm.
lCatnip promotes sweating and brings down fever.
lEchinacea Tincture or tea helps break a fever.
lHyssop Combined with Licorice Root && Thyme will lower a high temperature.
l Soak washcloths with egg whites put on the bottom of feet and cover with socks! Brings down a fever quickly.
l A large onion (cut in half) and two ace bandages. Using the bandages, tie a half of onion to the bottom of each bare foot. Reported to work every time. From down south.
l Tomatoes and vinegar. Put the vinegar in a plate. Cut tomatoes in slices. Mix in the vinegar and soak for a few minutes. Put the tomatoes on the bottom of the feet immediately and then put on socks.
