The Best Years in Life presents Luella's Big Adventure
|
|
by Tony Isaacs This past November, Luella and I took a trip to see our good friend Ben Taylor in beautiful Utopia, Texas. Luella had never been to that part of Texas and I had long looked forward to taking her. Though there are so many interesting things to do in all the historic and arts districts in towns along the way, and the many musical venues like the bars and clubs we visited in Bandera, the most striking part of the trip was the scenery. We arrived during the night and when we woke the next morning Luella had her first glimpse of the Utopia are and the morning mists in the valley below.
In Utopia every trip is an adventure, even ones out of the hills where Ben lives to the small town itself.
In town, the scenery was also beautiful.
Hey, who is that woman? She's kinda pretty too! One day we took a trip to Lost Maples Park. Even though the foliage was a couple of weeks past the peak, it was still gorgeous, and we had a blast on our little hike up and down the mountain side!
Yep, there is that woman again!
Who, me???
Her again? I think she likes getting her picture taken - what do you think? On another day we drove through the mountains between the towns of Leaky and Utopia.
While we were up in the top of the mountains, Luella thought she spotted an animal in the road. What do you suppose it was, miles from nowhere - where only the coyotes and mountain lions roamed looking for a tasty meal? Why, it was an abandoned dog loping down the road and stopping every so often to look left and right and obviously lost.
Yep, it was none other than our latest found dog, Heidi, a six month old black lab. Isn't she a cutie?
And that is how Luella's Big Adventure into the mountains of the Southwest Texas hill country ended up with us heading back into the sunset with a new member of the family! For the best in health information, subscribe to The Rose Laurel Press Newsletter featuring articles by Tony M. Isaacs
