Launches New Attack on Raw Milk Cheese

The heavy hand of the FDA in partnership
with Big Pharma wants to stamp out
producers of raw milk cheese as a finale
to their persecution of those selling
raw milk. This is the latest move in the
initiative of making truly healthy foods
extinct. When that is completed,
consumers will have nothing but the
adulterated health-deadening products
sold by the nation’s largest
corporations, no matter how unappealing
and dangerous they are.
For centuries French artisan
cheese has been made from raw milk, cultured with special bacteria and then
aged, a process quite safe. This is the cheese that made France famous. In the
U.S., cheese made from raw milk comes from the highest quality farms, is sold in
healthy image grocers, and is in high demand among the health conscious. But
late last summer the FDA began accepting public comments with the purpose of
assisting the agency in “identifying and evaluating measures that might minimize
the impact of harmful bacteria in cheeses made from unpasteurized milk.” In
creating a rational for their actions, the FDA and Health Canada jointly issued
a statement claiming that when cheese is made from raw milk, the incidence of
listeria, a disease caused by a food-borne pathogen, is increased. However,
this excuse is flimsy at best.
Statistic show that the real
culprit for outbreaks of disease comes from factory farmed dairy products, even
when they have been pasteurized! The Alliance for Natural Health USA (ANH) is
reporting that recent evidence from the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CBC) indicates that between 2009 and 2011, cheese made from raw milk
accounted for only one listeria outbreak and 15 cases of illness, while cheese
from pasteurized milk caused 5 outbreaks and 36 cases of illness.
In fact, the CDC determined that
during the period from 1993 to 2006, all raw milk products combined resulted in
202 hospitalizations and only 2 deaths. Compare this to the numbers from
Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs) that say contaminated meat and
poultry results in the illness of approximately one million people and death of
at least 1,000 people each year.
There is plenty of evidence
supporting the claim that raw milk is a much healthier choice than pasteurized
milk, including the fact that pasteurization kills the many healthy enzymes in
milk, and lowers content of iron, vitamin C and copper. In addition, it reduces
the absorption of vitamin A.

Once you see what the FDA is actually trying to destroy, you will see how Big
Pharma fits in. When all healthy food has been destroyed, and natural remedies
have been outlawed, Big Pharma will be the only game in town.
According to ANH, if the FDA
receives enough messages protesting the path they are clearly on to ban raw milk
cheese, they may back off for fear of offending Congress, which has to listen to

What are the characteristics of a
dairy farm that produces raw milk? A new study investigated animal
characteristics and milking practices that influence milk hygienic and sanitary
conditions in 24 dairy farms. Bulk samples were collected throughout the
milking period in each dairy farm. Analyzed variables included

and lactose content, dry matter and pH

Across the spectrum of farms
tested, the researchers found good hygienic conditions, and stressed this is an
important aspect in implementing safety for end users of the final product.
But in the factory farms where
pasteurization is a must because of the deplorable conditions, things are
different. There cows are raised on GMO grains, pumped full of antibiotics and
treated with growth hormones. The animals stand in yokes all day and have no
quality of life. This kind of farming produces an endless stream of waste
subject to run off, and poses a public health risk.
Wisconsin, just one of the states
known for factory farmed dairy products, produces cow manure in amounts
equivalent to the human waste produced by combined populations of Tokyo and
Mexico City – a situation that is referred to as dirty dairying in New Zealand
where few such farms exist. The Natural Resources Defense Council’s fact sheet
says manure from factory farmed cows contaminated Milwaukee’s drinking water
with cryptosporidium in 1993, killing more than 100 people and making 400,000

their well-being. When they can no longer put out the amount of milk desired per
day, they are slaughter for meat. This is what goes on in the production of 80
percent of milk sold in the USA. And it is this production that will go into
all the cheese that is made if the FDA has its way.
