Slow-Cooker Chicken and Dumplings - Hearty and Delicious!

(The Best Years in Life) Chicken and Dumplings is a comfort-food classic that most of us remember fondly from our parents or grandparents, or perhaps from making it ourselves. With this recipe you can easily make your own delicious, hearty and healthier chicken and dumplings meal in a crock pot or other slow cooker. For the healthiest recipe, be sure to use organic content as much as possible - including the broth and soup, which are now widely available at grocers. Also, either use unbleached flour dough/biscuits or go even healthier and gluten free by making your own gluten-free dough with the included recipe link.

Ingredients:

4 boneless skinless chicken breast (preferably organic)
2 10 ounce packages of refrigerated dough/biscuits*
1 can msg-free chicken broth (preferably organic)
2 cans cream of chicken soup (preferably organic)
sliced carrots
sliced celery
6 ounces of fresh or frozen peas (or 1/2 can peas)
1/2 onion
parsley
minced garlic (or garlic powder)
Himalayan pink salt and black pepper
crumbled bacon** (optional)

*For a healthier recipe, use dough/biscuits made with unbleached flour. For the healthiest recipe make your own dough with this great tasting gluten-free biscuit recipe:

**For the healthiest bacon, use additive-free organic bacon if you can find it.

(As always, The Best Years in Life recommends choosing organic content and fresh content as much as possible for the healthiest recipe. Also, wash all fruits and vegetables before cutting or adding to the recipe.)

Instructions:

1. Place chicken breasts in bottom of a crockpot or other slow cooker.

2. Pour the broth and cream of chicken soup over the breasts.

3. Add in carrots, celery and onion - however much you prefer.

4. Add in garlic, salt and pepper and parsley flakes over it, how much ever you prefer

5. Cook on high for 3 hours (if you have things to do you can also cook on lower temperature settings).

6. Remove chicken and shred. Add the chicken back in with some crumbled bacon and the peas, stir together.

7. Tear the uncooked dough/biscuits into smaller strips or pieces and put in the crockpot on top of the rest of the ingredients.

8. Remain cooking for another hour or so on high or until done. Enjoy!
