These Deadly Prescription Drugs are Just the Tip of the Iceberg
by Barbara Minton
(The Best Years in Life) Do you ever listen to the disclaimers at the end of drug commercials, or do you focus on how happy the people in them feel about their drugs? The indoctrination from the medical establishment has been so persistent and intense that it seems many people block out what is being explained in the disclosure and fail to realize that most drugs being advertised on TV can cause great harm and even kill you.
What are the most lethal drugs of all? Turns out it’s the ones being talked up in TV drug ads, which are the newest ones. According to Donald W. Light from the Center for Ethics, “Few people know that new prescription drugs have a 1 in 5 chance of causing serious reactions after they have been approved.” Others have been targeted for children and young adults, robbing them of their future potential. And still other drugs actually do the reverse of what they are claimed to do. Why would nice doctors prescribe life threatening drugs for you or your children? Doctors get most of their information from pharmaceutical sales people. If this is not enough to make you think twice about taking drugs, here are a few examples.
Amphetamines – ( Ritalin, Concerta, Adderall and more) Instead of creating a curriculum and environment that can meet the needs of all children, schools have joined with the pharmaceutical industry to medicate children who are unable to conform to today’s mind numbing school experience. According to pediatric neurologist Dr. Fred Baughman in his book The ADHD Fraud, these drugs are “every bit as addictive as cocaine.” They have a myriad of debilitating side effects that include appetite loss, stunted growth, brain shrinkage, loss of fertility, hallucinations and death. Parents are seldom informed of this when schools and doctors double team them to seize control of their child. They are also not informed about the pile of research that says fish oil is a much better option for behavioral management.
Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) – (Prozac Paxil, Zoloft, Celexa, Luvox, Effexor and more) This class of drugs is favored for children and young adults who are experiencing depression, but the side effects are much worse than almost any depression could be. They include nervousness, agitation, restlessness, insomnia, anxiety, harm to the self that includes suicide, and mass killing. Almost without exception, all the mass killings of the past few decades have been perpetrated by young adults taking one or more of these drugs. The leading authority on SSRIs, Dr. David Healy, says there is no research evidence to suggest that anyone’s life is saved by taking an antidepressant, but many lives have been lost. “There are probably something between 1000-1500 extra suicides in the US each year, triggered by an antidepressant – an extra 2000-2500 in Europe,” he says.
The data is similar for violence while on SSRIs. Mass killings were vitually unheard of until the advent of SSRI drugs.
Antipsychotics – (Risperdal, Seroquel, Zyprexa , Abilify) Known as chemical straight jackets, antipsychotic drugs are an easy way to deal with someone who is having a psychotic episode. But this comes at a high price, with side effects that include considerable mental and physical impairment, neurological damage, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, impotence, brain shrinkage, and premature death. Unfortunately their use is not confined to the truly psychotic, and school children and teenagers are increasingly taking them because if they don’t they will be expelled. Antipsychotic drugs now rival statins and antidepressants in terms of the revenue they generate for the drug companies producing them. Their most lucrative market is for treating the latest designer diagnosis, bipolar disorder. Today this diagnosis is one of the fastest growing among children and teens who simply act out at school.
Statins - (Lipitor, Crestor, Zocor, Levacor, Pravachol and more) These drugs are prescribed under the notion that lowering cholesterol creates cardiovascular health. But research has shown that statins actually create the problem they are being marketed to solve. Their use accelerates coronary artery and aortic artery calcification, both of which greatly contribute to cardiovascular disease and mortality. In addition, statins significantly increase risk for type 2 diabetes and they accelerate the cardiovascular complications associated with diabetes. Dr. Arthur Agatston, cardiologist and author of the South Beach diet books, says coronary calcium is the best predictor of who will have a heart attack and who will not. Other research found that coronary calcium level was six times more accurate at predicting impending heart attack than family history or coronary heart disease. Though the FDA has added a warning that statins increase liver damage, memory loss and confusion, type 2 diabetes, and muscle weakness, they still sing their praises. Little is said about the fact that statins increase risk of heart disease by depleting Coenzyme Q 10. This depletion can lead to heart failure as well as the numbing fatigue people on the drug experience.
Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) – (Nexium, Prilosec, Prevacid, Protonix) This is a class of antacid medications, some of which are now available over the counter. The FDA has been issuing warnings that PPIs increase risk of osteoporosis and fractures of the hip, wrist and spine. Research has found that patients over age 50 who were treated with PPIs for over a year had a 44% increased risk of hip fracture, and higher doses increase this risk even more. At the same time PPIs inhibit the absorption of calcium, they inhibit the proton pumps in the cells which build new bone. PPIs lower levels of magnesium, a critical mineral for virtually every function of the human body, including activation of enzymes, energy production, heartbeat regulation and muscle contraction. Magnesium regulates calcium, copper, zinc, potassium, vitamin D, and many more nutrients. Heart arrhythmias, profound weakness and fatigue, restless leg syndrome, confusion, jerky muscle movements, and high blood pressure are signals of low magnesium. PPIs also increase risk of infectious diarrhea that often requires hospitalization and may be fatal.
Although each of these drugs belongs in the hall of shame, it is only the tip of the iceberg. When your doctor tells you to take these or any other drugs, tell him you want natural medicines instead – the kind of medicines that can affect true healing.

Iodine deficiency is a worldwide problem. Diets that are deficient in iodine can result in many severe medical conditions including cretinism ( very severe brain damage occurring in very early life), mental impairment, reduced intellectual ability, goiter, and infertility. Also, iodine deficiency predisposes one to an increased risk of breast, prostate and other cancers.
Selenium is an important co-factor for iodine and Selenium Synergy® contains the most effective selenium compound, Methylselenocysteine, combined with BroccoMax® (rich in sulforaphane glucosinolate), Vitamin B2 (as riboflavin) and Vitamin E (as d-alpha tocopheryl succinate). Each serving of Selenium Synergy® contains 200 mcg of selenium from methylselenocysteine. Vitamins B2 and E are important to the metabolism of selenium.
