Avoiding
Toxins and Removing Them from Your
Body
by Luella May
Today’s society is filled with a myriad of modern conveniences. A simple visit to a department store or supermarket fills our every need. It is a no-fuss world with everything packaged neatly, ready for use. Even the foods we eat are prepackaged, necessitating only insertion in a microwave and, voila! we have a ready made meal. Unbeknownst to many, however, these wonderful modern conveniences come with a price: they often contain toxic ingredients which can seriously compromise our health.
In today’s world,
it is almost impossible not to come
into contact with toxins. We
normally associate toxins with
industrial chemicals, pesticides and
the like. Yet, toxins can be found
in the everyday products that we
depend upon. For example, food,
personal care products, clothing,
furniture, and cookware are just
some of the items used daily that
contain toxins. A visit to the
doctor or dentist can be another
source of toxicity. Just a few
examples of how toxins enter our
bodies at a physician’s office are
vaccines, prescription medicines,
and amalgam fillings. A report
compiled by the CDC in 2009 stated
that there are at least 212 toxins
lodged in human tissues and
circulating throughout our systems,
many of which are carcinogens.
The body responds to toxicity in
various ways, which include:
*Acne and other skin problems.
*Allergies
*Food intolerance
*Bad breath and body odor
*Flatulence
*Constipation or diarrhea
*Weakened immune system, resulting
in frequent colds and infections
*Frequent headaches
*Lethargy
*Back pain
*Pain in liver and/or gall bladder
*PMS
*Serious illness, such as cancer
There are several ways to prevent
toxicity and to help the body rid
itself of these unwelcome guests.
The first one is by eating healthy,
non-toxic foods. Processed foods,
fast foods, junk food, sodas, etc.
should be eliminated. Other foods to
avoid include: caffeine, alcohol,
sugar, canned food, sugar, red meat,
pork, fried food, and white rice.
A toxic-free diet should consist
mainly of raw fruits and vegetables,
whole grains, legumes, raw nuts and
seeds, fish, herbs, and herbal teas.
Use care when buying personal care
products, including shampoos and
makeup. Beauty often comes with an
unwelcome price, the risk of
compromised health. Read the labels
and stick to natural products.
Better yet, by just taking a few
minutes out of the day, some
products can be easily made at home,
assuring quality and safety. Below
are recipes for healthy products;
one for shampoos that leave your
healthy and hair vibrant, and the
other for toothpastes, that will
promote oral health.

Food grade
diatomaceous earth is effective in
removing toxins. As it passes
through the digestive tract not only
does it absorb and trap pathogens
such as viruses, bacteria, fungi,
and protozoa but it also traps and
absorbs toxins, eliminating them
from the body.
Other effective ways of removing
toxins from the body are:
*Drinking plenty of water to flush
out the system.
*Bentonite clay, used both
internally and externally (in a clay
bath).
*Lemon juice is also effective in
removing toxins. Twelve large lemons
can be added to a gallon of
distilled water or two tablespoons
of lemon juice can be added to a cup
of herbal tea.
*Epsom salt, baking soda, or sea
salt baths help to remove toxins via
the skin. Put one pound of whichever
item you prefer into the bath water
and soak for at least 12 minutes
several times a week.
*Supplements and food items such as
milk thistle, alpha-lipoic acid,
selenium, beetroot juice, turmeric,
coconut oil, and the herb goldenseal
eliminate toxins efficiently by
protecting and helping to regenerate
the liver. Iodine, vitamin B12, and
vitamins A, C, and E also help the
body rid itself of toxins.
*Use liver, gall bladder, colon,
kidney, and blood cleanses.
*Other ways to effectively cleanse
the body are by taking chlorella,
cilantro, apple pectin, niacin and
zeolite minerals.
*Glutathione suppositories can be
used when symptoms first appear.
