The Cancer-Fighting Spice So Potent it Even Beat Brain Tumors in Mice

Curcumin – a derivative of turmeric, and the pigment that gives the curry spice turmeric its yellow-orange color -- is a natural compound that has been extensively researched, and has been found to have numerous health applications. Curcumin Effective against Fatal Type of Brain Tumor

In an exciting discovery announced in the Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry in July, researchers say curcumin could be the answer to stopping a fatal brain cancer known as glioblastoma (GBMs). This study strengthens previous findings. In this study, scientists showed that it decreased brain tumors in nine of 11 study animals (81 percent), with no evidence of toxicity.

Furthermore, curcumin did not affect healthy cells, suggesting curcumin selectively targets cancer cells. They also found that it worked synergistically with two different chemotherapy drugs, enhancing the elimination of cancer cells.

The authors state:

"In summary, data presented here suggest curcumin as a potential agent for therapy of GBMs."

I agree wholeheartedly with this article. Curcumin is a powerful cancer-fighter and cancer-preventer and I have included it as an important element of the anti-cancer protocol I developed and recommend. Not that I would suggest anyone continue smoking, but curcumin has been proven in studies to help protect smokers against the development of lung cancers.

As Doctor Mercola noted, curcumin is also a powerful natural anti-inflammatory with numerous other health benefits. I take it regularly myself. I take a curcumin product called Super Biocurcumin (made by Life Extension Foundation which I purchase from iHerb.com due to their discount pricing) with enhanced bioavailability since, as the good Doctor pointed out, curcumin is normally not very well absorbed at all. There are a couple of such products out there if one searches. Otherwise, the suggestions in the article are quite good ones. Another item which can help increase curcumin absorption is piperine, which is essentially black pepper. I have used black pepper along with coconut milk/coconut oil to help increase absorption of regular curcumin.

(Daily Mail) A desperate father whose son was suffering from a life-threatening brain tumour has revealed he gave him cannabis oil to ease his pain. And he has now apparently made a full recovery.

Cash Hyde, known as Cashy, was a perfectly healthy baby when he was born in June 2008 but became sick shortly before his second birthday. At first he was misdiagnosed with glandular fever before his parents Mike and Kalli, from Missoula in Montana, were given the devastating news he had a serious brain tumour.

The little boy had to have arduous chemotherapy treatment to reduce the growth, which had drastic side effects including seizures and a blood infection. His distraught parents were repeatedly told he was likely to succumb to the illness because the condition was so bad.

After one bout of high-dose chemotherapy, Cash was so weak he could not lift his head and was too sick to eat any solid food for 40 days. It was at this point that Mr Hyde decided to take action and go down the route of medical marijuana to try to help his young son.

Cash's doctors refused to even discuss the option but his father went and sought authorisation elsewhere and then secretly administered it through his son's feeding tube. He also told doctors to stop giving Cash the cocktail of anti-nausea drugs he had been taking - although he never told them what he was doing.

Mr Hyde told KXLY News that his son started looking better right away. Mr Hyde said: 'He hadn't eaten a thing in 40 days - and, it was really incredible to watch him take a bite of a piece of cheese. It shows that he wants to live'.

He credits the cannabis oil with helping his son get through the chemo, and say Cash has now been declared cancer free by doctors.

The boy is now back and home and living the life of a typical young boy, playing with his elder brother Colty.

Medical marijuana is legal in some states, including Montana, but its use for children is poorly understood and quite rate. The US federal government does not recognise the legality of using the drug for medical reasons and frequently clashes with states over the issue.

Mr Hyde told KXLY: 'It's very controversial, it's very scary. But, there's nothing more scary than losing your child.'

Scientists have discovered that broccoli and Brussels sprouts have the ability to stop the spread of cancer. Eating the vegetables encourages the body to produce a substance known as 13C (indole-3-carbinol) which fights cancer and blocks cancer cells from proliferating.

In the study just published in Cancer Prevention Research, researchers at the Ohio State University found compelling evidence indicating that 13C could have anticancer effects and other health benefits. The study focused on breast cancer cells, but it is likely that it can fight other cancers too, and it may even reverse Alzheimer's disease.

The Environmental Working Group's Cancer Prevention Tips

According to a new report from the President's Cancer Panel, environmental toxins play a significant and under-recognized role in cancer, causing "grievous harm" to untold numbers of people. EWG's own research has found that children are born "pre-polluted" with nearly 300 industrial chemicals, pesticides and contaminants that have been found to cause cancer in lab studies or in people.

Four of every 10 Americans will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetimes, and two of every 10 will die from it. Beyond talking to your doctor about lifestyle changes that are known to make a difference -- stopping smoking, reducing drinking, losing weight, exercising and eating right -- there are things you can do to reduce your risk.

Here are some simple ways you can reduce your exposure to potentially cancer-causing chemicals (click here to download the PDF):

1. Filter your tap water. Common carcinogens in tap water include arsenic, chromium, and chemical byproducts that form when water is disinfected. A simple carbon tap-mounted filter or pitcher can help reduce the levels of some of these contaminants. If your water is polluted with arsenic or chromium, a reverse osmosis filter will help. Learn about your tap water and home water filters at EWG's National Tap Water Database.

2. Seal outdoor wooden decks and play sets. Those built before 2005 are likely coated with an arsenic pesticide that can stick to hands and clothing. Learn more from EWG.

3. Cut down on stain- and grease-proofing chemicals. "Fluorochemicals" related to Teflon and Scotchgard are used in stain repellants on carpets and couches and in greaseproof coatings for packaged and fast foods. 4. Stay safe in the sun. More than one million cases of skin cancer are diagnosed in the United States each year. To protect your skin from the sun's cancer-causing ultraviolet (UV) radiation, seek shade, wear protective clothing and use a safe and effective sunscreen from EWG's sunscreen database.

5. Cut down on fatty meat and high-fat dairy products. Long-lasting cancer-causing pollutants like dioxins and PCBs accumulate in the food chain and concentrate in animal fat.

7. Cut your exposures to BPA. Bisphenol A (BPA) is a synthetic estrogen found in some hard plastic water bottles, canned infant formula, and canned foods. Some of these chemicals cause cancer in lab studies. To avoid them, eat fewer canned foods, breast feed your baby or use powdered formula, and choose water bottles free of BPA. 8. Avoid carcinogens in cosmetics. Use EWG's Skin Deep cosmetic database to find products free of chemicals known or suspected to cause cancer. When you're shopping, don't buy products that list ingredients with "PEG" or "-eth" in their name.

9. Read the warnings. Some products list warnings of cancer risks -- read the label before you buy. Californians will see a "Proposition 65" warning label on products that contain chemicals the state has identified as cancer-causing.

Breast cancer cells destroyed by peach and plum extracts

(NaturalNews) Even the most aggressive types of breast cancer cells couldn't stand up to treatments with peach and plum extracts. That's the outcome of a natural fruit-derived treatment tested in the Texas AgriLife Research Lab which resulted in cancer cells dying while normal cells were not harmed at all.

"It was a differential effect which is what you're looking for because in current cancer treatment with chemotherapy, the substance kills all cells, so it is really tough on the body," Dr. David Byrne, an AgriLife Research plant breeder and scientist, said in a press statement. "Here, there is a five-fold difference in the toxic intensity. You can put it at a level where it will kill the cancer cells -- the very aggressive ones -- and not the normal ones."

In their study, which was published in the Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry , Dr. Byrne and fellow AgriLife food scientist Dr. Luis Cisneros-Zevallos concluded two phenolic compounds were responsible for the cancer cell deaths.

Green Tea Blocks Lung Cancer

(NaturalNews) Drinking at least a cup of green tea a day may significantly decrease a person's risk of lung cancer, according to a study conducted by researchers from Shan Medical University in Taiwan.

Cancer rates are significantly lower in Asia than in other parts of the world, and high consumption of green tea has been suggested as one of the potential explanations. Laboratory studies have suggested that the polyphenols in green tea can halt the growth of cancer cells, but the results of human studies have been mixed.

In the current study, researchers analyzed green tea consumption, smoking, genetic factors and lung cancer risk in more than 500 people. They found that among non-smokers, those who did not drink tea had five times the lung cancer risk of those who drank at least one cup per day. Among smokers, not drinking green tea was linked to 12 times the cancer risk of those who drank at least one cup per day.

A genetic analysis of all the study participants revealed that a specific variant of the gene known as IGF1 was associated with the correlation between higher tea consumption and lower cancer risk. Among those without this variant, green tea consumption had little effect on cancer risk. This could explain the inconsistent results of prior studies.

Health experts warned that whatever the benefits of green tea might be, they do not outweigh the danger posed by smoking.

"Smoking tobacco fills your lungs with around 80 cancer-causing chemicals," said Yinka Ebo of Cancer Research U.K. "Drinking green tea is not going to compensate for that. Unfortunately, it's not possible to make up for the harm caused by smoking by doing other things right like eating a healthy, balanced diet. The best thing a smoker can do to reduce their risk of lung cancer, and more than a dozen other cancer types, is to quit."

Pomegranates reduce the risk of breast cancer

(NaturalNews) Regular consumption of pomegranate may help prevent breast cancer, according to a study conducted by researchers from the City of Hope and published in the journal Cancer Prevention Research.

Researchers tested 10 different naturally occurring pomegranate compounds, all of them in the ellagitannin family of chemicals. They found that some of the ellagitannins significantly reduced the activity of the enzyme aromatase in the laboratory.

In the body, aromatase transforms the hormone androgen into the hormone estrogen. Because 75 percent of breast tumors contain estrogen receptors and use the hormone to fuel their growth, aromatase inhibitors are a popular form of treatment for slowing the growth of breast tumors in post-menopausal women.

Curcumin and black pepper combine to stop breast cancer tumor cells

(NaturalNews) Natural chemicals found in the spices turmeric and black pepper appear to stop the growth of breast tumors, according to a study conducted by researchers from the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center and published in the journal Breast Cancer Research and Treatment.

Researchers applied a solution containing both curcumin, found in turmeric, and piperine, which makes black pepper spicy, to breast cancer cells in a laboratory, using concentrations 20 times higher than those found in the human diet. They found that the solution hampered the ability of stem cells to propagate but did not affect the differentiation of normal breast cells.

"This shows that these compounds are not toxic to normal breast tissue," lead author Madhuri Kakarala said.

Cancer stem cells are the cells in tumors that allow it to keep growing without limit. Current chemotherapy treatments are unable to affect stem cells, which is part of the reason that cancers can spread and recur even in those undergoing treatment.

"If we can limit the number of stem cells, we can limit the number of cells with potential to form tumors," Kakarala said.

The researchers found that the piperine appeared to make the curcumin more effective. They also found that the solution affected cancer stem cells regardless of whether the tumors were estrogen-sensitive or not. This is an especially significant finding because the cancer-preventive drugs tamoxifen or raloxifene, which can have highly toxic side effects, do not affect estrogen-independent tumors.

"The concept that dietary compounds can help is attractive, and curcumin and piperine appear to have very low toxicity," Karkala said.

Previous studies have linked a diet high in turmeric to a lower risk of breast, colon, prostate and lung cancers. Black pepper and piperine have both also been shown to suppress the development of colon and lung tumors in animal tests.

A new study presented at the American Association for Cancer Research's annual meeting has found that women who take multivitamins and calcium drastically reduce their odds of getting breast cancer. The study, conducted at the Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico, found that women who routinely took multivitamins reduced their risk of developing breast cancer by almost 30 percent. Women who took nutritional supplements and calcium fared even better - reducing their risk by 40 plus percent.

Common Seaweed May Provide an Important Cancer Cure

The answer for cancers of the immune system and other forms of cancer may have been found in an extract of common brown seaweed according to research presented this month at the AACR Dead Sea International Conference on Advances in Cancer Research. At the conference, which was held on March 7-10 at King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Center, Dead Sea, Jordan, researchers from the Hashemite University in Jordan reported that brown seaweed contains the compound fucoidan which kills cancer tumors.

The researchers used an extract of the seaweed on lymphoma cell lines cultivated in the laboratory and found that the extract suppressed lymphoma growth while leaving healthy cells intact. The researchers also noted a significant increase in apoptosis, or cellular death, in lymphoma cancer cells.

Lymphoma is an immune system cancer and it is divided into two classes, Hodgkin's and non-Hodgkin's, which are in turn further classified into B-cell and T-cell groups.

"Some forms of B-cell lymphoma are especially resistant to standard treatment and thus new therapies are needed," said Mohammad Irhimeh, Ph.D., assistant professor of hematoncology and stem cells at the Hashemite University in Jordan. "In this study, we looked at a new treatment strategy using novel active compounds derived from a natural source -- seaweed."

Irhimeh said that research would continue to study the mechanism of fucoidan with the goal of conducting phase II or III clinical trials with human volunteers.

Previously, seaweeds containing fucoidan have been found to have anti-tumor activity in mice and some cell lines and Japanese researchers at the Biomedical Research Laboratories and the Research Institute for Glycotechnology Advancement found that seaweeds containing Fucoidan caused various types of established cancer cell lines to self-destruct. Examples of cancer cells that self-destructed due to fucoidan included certain kinds of leukemia cells, stomach cancer cells, and cancer cells of the descending colon.

About 4 percent of the total dry weight of many types of brown seaweed is made up of the polysaccharide known as Fucoidan. Fucoidan is a sulfated polysaccharide that has a complex structure. Its main components include a sulfuric esterified L-fucose, a healing sugar, and the trace elements of galactose, xylose, and glucuronic acid.

Fucoidan has been touted as one of the ocean's greatest treasures. Among the many benefits reported for fucoidan in addition to being an anti-tumor agent are: helps modulate the immune system, supports normal cellular health, supports blood circulation to native body cells, act as an anti-contraceptive, helps reduces cholesterol levels and supports healthy joint mobility at all ages. In addition, it is believed that fucoidan may help stimulate immune response when the body is attacked and may help regenerate healthy skin tissue.

The people of Okinawa, Japan enjoy some of the highest life expectancies in Japan and also consume one of the highest per capita amount of the seaweed kombu. The cancer death rate in Okinawa is the lowest of all the prefectures in Japan.

Fucoidan’s anti-cancer properties may also be good news for dogs and cats. Lymphoma is one of the most prevalent cancers in dogs and cats, and as noted above, lymphoma is one of the types of cancer which fucoidan has been found to be the most effective.

Frankincense - a cure for cancer?

The gift given by the wise men to the baby Jesus probably came across the deserts from Oman. The BBC's Jeremy Howell visits the country to ask whether a commodity that was once worth its weight in gold could be reborn as a treatment for cancer.

Oman's Land of Frankincense is an 11-hour drive southwards from the capital, Muscat.

Most of the journey is through Arabia's Empty Quarter - hundreds of kilometres of flat, dun-coloured desert. Just when you are starting to think this is the only scenery you will ever see again, the Dhofar mountains appear in the distance.

On the other side are green valleys, with cows grazing in them. The Dhofar region catches the tail-end of India's summer monsoons, and they make this the most verdant place on the Arabian peninsula.

Warm winters and showery summers are the perfect conditions for the Boswellia sacra tree to produce the sap called frankincense. These trees grow wild in Dhofar. A tour guide, Mohammed Al-Shahri took me to Wadi Dawkah, a valley 20 km inland from the main city of Salalah, to see a forest of them.

"The records show that frankincense was produced here as far back as 7,000 BC," he says. He produces an army knife. He used to be a member of the Sultan's Special Forces. With a practised flick, he cuts a strip of bark from the trunk of one of the Boswellia sacra trees. Pinpricks of milky-white sap appear on the wood and, very slowly, start to ooze out.

"This is the first cut. But you don't gather this sap," he says. "It releases whatever impurities are in the wood. The farmers return after two or three weeks and make a second, and a third, cut. Then the sap comes out yellow, or bright green, or brown or even black. They take this."

Shortly afterwards, a frankincense farmer arrives in a pick-up truck. He is white-bearded, wearing a brown thobe and the traditional Omani, paisley-patterned turban.

He is 67-year-old Salem Mohammed from the Gidad family. Most of the Boswellia sacra trees grow on public land, but custom dictates that each forest is given to one of the local families to farm, and Wadi Dawkah is his turf.

He has an old, black, iron chisel with which he gouges out clumps of dried frankincense.

"We learnt about frankincense from our forefathers and they learnt it from theirs" he says. "The practice has been passed down through the generations. We exported the frankincense, and that's how the families in Dhofar made their livings."

And what an export trade it was. Frankincense was sent by camel train to Egypt, and from there to Europe. It was shipped from the ancient port of Sumharan to Persia, India and China. Religions adopted frankincense as a burnt offering.

That is why, according to Matthew's Gospel in the Bible, the Wise Men brought it as a gift to the infant Jesus. Gold: for a king. Frankincense: for God. Myrrh: to embalm Jesus' body after death.

The Roman Empire coveted the frankincense trade. In the first century BCE, Augustus Caesar sent 10,000 troops to invade what the Romans called Arabia Felix to find the source of frankincense and to control its production. The legions, marching from Yemen, were driven back by the heat and the aridity of the desert. They never found their Eldorado.

Oman's frankincense trade went into decline three centuries ago, when Portugal fought Oman for dominance of the sea routes in the Indian and the Pacific Oceans.

Nowadays, hardly any Omani frankincense is exported. Partly, this is because bulk buyers, such as the Roman Catholic Church, buy cheaper Somalian varieties. Partly, it is because Omanis now produce so little.

"Years ago, 20 families farmed frankincense in this area," says Salem Mohammed Gidad. "But the younger generation can get well-paid jobs in the government and the oil companies, with pensions. Now, only three people still produce frankincense around here. The trade is really, really tiny!"

Cancer hope

But immunologist Mahmoud Suhail is hoping to open a new chapter in the history of frankincense.

Scientists have observed that there is some agent within frankincense which stops cancer spreading, and which induces cancerous cells to close themselves down. He is trying to find out what this is.

"Cancer starts when the DNA code within the cell's nucleus becomes corrupted," he says. "It seems frankincense has a re-set function. It can tell the cell what the right DNA code should be.

"Frankincense separates the 'brain' of the cancerous cell - the nucleus - from the 'body' - the cytoplasm, and closes down the nucleus to stop it reproducing corrupted DNA codes."

Working with frankincense could revolutionise the treatment of cancer. Currently, with chemotherapy, doctors blast the area around a tumour to kill the cancer, but that also kills healthy cells, and weakens the patient. Treatment with frankincense could eradicate the cancerous cells alone and let the others live.

The task now is to isolate the agent within frankincense which, apparently, works this wonder. Some ingredients of frankincense are allergenic, so you cannot give a patient the whole thing.

    In his laboratory in Salalah, he extracts the essential oil from locally produced frankincense. Then, he separates the oil into its constituent agents, such as Boswellic acid.

    "There are 17 active agents in frankincense essential oil," says Dr Suhail. "We are using a process of elimination. We have cancer sufferers - for example, a horse in South Africa - and we are giving them tiny doses of each agent until we find the one which works."

    "Some scientists think Boswellic acid is the key ingredient. But I think this is wrong. Many other essential oils - like oil from sandalwood - contain Boswellic acid, but they don't have this effect on cancer cells. So we are starting afresh."

    The trials will take months to conduct and whatever results come out of them will take longer still to be verified. But this is a blink of the eye in the history of frankincense.

    Nine thousand years ago, Omanis gathered it and burnt it for its curative and cleansing properties. It could be a key to the medical science of tomorrow.

    The Cancer Epidemic That Continues

    Are you aware that nearly 50% of Americans will develop some form of cancer today, and that by 2050 the cancer rate will have nearly doubled? (National Cancer Institute – NCI) With billions given to research for a cure, prevention methods and supposedly the most brilliant minds to task, the last 40 years have yielded very little in regards to either objective. We’re a nation with one of the greatest technological capabilities known to man, a world super power, yet have the third sickest population falling only to China and India (U.S. Census Bureau – extrapolations). Making matters worse are statistics that show chronic disease wildly more prevalent within developed / industrialized nations.

    Is Cancer Really Genetic?

    A succession of scientific findings beginning with studies conducted in the late 19th and early 20th century combined with the discovery of the oncogene by MIT’s-Dr. Robert A. Weinberg has led scientists to suggest that cancer is genetic and is caused by a sequence of DNA mutations caused by the gene. The well reported nature of these findings began the spark of the wide spread belief that cancer is in fact genetic. These happenings have now cumulated into the mammoth research project through the International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC) in which the leviathan like organization seeks to identify and catalogue the genetic mutation structure of 50 different cancer types. ICGC scientists from 10 different countries predict it will take “at least five years and many hundreds of thousands of dollars to complete this mammoth task” in addition to developing new drugs. Scientists suggest that if the DNA mutations that lead to cancer can be detected early enough through “MoT-style blood tests” then specific drug treatments can begin for the early stage cancer. (UK Wellcome Trust Scientific Research Team of the ICGC)  Clearly stated, the hope and goal of their findings are to develop and test on their human lab-rats “more” drugs which, historically have shown to exacerbate existing conditions while creating brand new ones, all while growing fat pockets for the pharmaceutical industry.

    The Notion of Genetic Cancer Proven Unequivocally False

    As you may have not heard, Dr. Weinberg reversed his original theory 12 years ago after discovering that less than one DNA base in a million appeared to have been miscopied, concluding that not enough defect existed to cause cell mutation. His exact words: “Something was very wrong. The notion that a cancer developed through the successive activation of a series of oncogenes had lost its link to reality”. More recently, in 2005, the directors of the world’s largest cancer research center in Houston, Texas, announced that cancer’s prime cause is not genetic.  Despite the magnitude of these reports, they’ve been widely overlooked by the mainstream media, leaving most in the dark as to the cause, cure and prevention of a disease that killed 7.6 million people worldwide in 2007 (The American Cancer Society).

    The Notoriously Illusive Cure

    Reflect over your lifetime as to how many times you can recall hearing reports of Millions of dollars in grant money being awarded for cancer research. I’ve personally seen unfathomable amounts of money poured into projects like these; yet, where’s the cure, where are the effective prevention methods, where are the answers? Hundreds of people are receiving new cancer diagnosis everyday. What other profession can you name that is paid millions of dollars and consistently fails its mission over and over again? I can’t name one.

    Studies published leading people to believe “the genetic code of cancer has been cracked” and that “scientists are on the brink of a cure” serve to give hope (albeit false) for a “someday” cure.  In actuality their design is to drive large amounts of money in the form of donations, grants and fundraisers to fund more research and develop new drugs to saturate people with. Prescription drugs weren’t designed to cure illness or disease; at best they provide temporary relief, but ultimately, history has shown them to exacerbate existing conditions. And if history shows that drugs aren’t the solution (which it does), then why continue spending millions of tax payer dollars to fund “false hope” research in search of new drugs?   I suspect that “fear” drives most of this and the cancer industry is well aware of the trump card called “fear.”

    The Cause, Cure, and Prevention of Cancer  – Yes There IS Hope

    Prevention is always better than cure and is in fact the key to conquering cancer. Based on the 1966 discovery of one of the great Biochemists of the 20th century, Dr. Otto Warburg along with detailed experiments, verified numerous times by scientists, the prime cause of cancer was shown to be the inhibition of cellular respiration (hypoxia) to the degree of at least 35%. Clinical researcher Dr. Amid Habib confirms that because no “cancer cell” exists, the disease can be prevented if the full capacity of cellular respiration is kept in tact.  Researchers found that Essential Fatty Acids (EFA’s), which are highly oxygen absorbing entities, actually make it possible for enough oxygen to reach the cells via cell membranes.

    Consumption of two primary EFA’s – Omega 6 and Omega 3 allow the body to manufacturer any supplemental EFA derivatives it might need. Studies found that exercise alone wasn’t enough to keep oxygen deprivation at the cellular level below the 35% mark; due to the fact that the enriched supply of oxygen to the blood doesn’t transfer oxygen into the cell membrane, showing why some athletes still develop cancer.

    Research then began looking into what environmental and/or dietary factors would cause a cell to become oxygen deficient to the degree of 35%. It was shown that consumption of genetically modified polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) which incorporates into cell membranes, interfering with cellular oxygen transmission is a fundamental cause of cancer. If undamaged omega 6 isn’t fed to the brain, organs and muscles, the body will have no other choice but to use damaged EFAs like polyunsaturated fatty acids, causing cellular de-oxygenation. And when the body’s omega-6 supply is less than what’s required, the body will prioritize delivery, supplying the organs it considers most vital first: the brain, heart, lungs, and kidneys.

    The work and research of Johanna Budwig, a German scientist and biochemist brought about a scientific revolution connecting the relationship between cancer research and fat metabolism.  Yet, most of her work has gone unnoticed by conventional medicine as they continue to propagate the gene theory of cancer.  Could it be because something as intricate as “gene therapy” let’s them off-the-hook and thus enables them to continue to request millions of research dollars and give us mile-markers such as “research will take 5-10 years”?  How many times have we heard this?

    Marching to a Different Drummer

    Regardless of the public’s dedication to what the conventional medical community teaches in regards to preventing and treating cancer, the continued rise over the last 40 years is a clear sign of the cancer industry’s ineffectiveness and possible unwillingness to admit that past and current research is not providing the answers that are needed to cure cancer.  The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.  We have had at least 40 years of “insanity”. Despite the magnitude of research such as that of Dr. Budwig, it remains largely unknown to the public, irrespective of the fact that no scientist or expert in the field has ever disproven the work. The good news although is that a precancerous cell which has a lower degree of oxygen inhibition can be prevented from permanently becoming cancerous if oxygen deficiency is stopped early enough.

    Women with Breast Cancer Have Low Vitamin D Levels, Scientists Discover

    A Potent Cancer Fighting Combination: Oleander, Budwig, Iodine and Selenium

    Four of the most important elements of my Natural Anti-Cancer Protocol are oleander extract, the Budwig flaxseed and cottage cheese, Iodine and Selenium. 

    This past month, two posts on my Yahoo Oleandersoup health group, illustrate how many people are using such a combination as part of their successful fight against cancer.

    First:

    Last posting I commented that Jims Cancer in the esophagus has shrunk 80%. (Stage IV2B). He was diagnosed 6/4/09. At present, we are taking Oleander (5 teaspoons per day) and following Budwig Diet. (4TBS F/O to 8 TBS CC. We Do Not follow BP 100%. I am supplementing him with selenium, iodine, fish oil, vitamin C, vitamin D, B Complex, Cell Fort. I have switched him over to about 80% organic but occasionally he eats organic chicken. Organic Milk with Omega 3 and Grain 4 Organic Eggs, (Chickens fed grains and flaxseed). Most protein he gets comes from these eggs and organic beans and lentils and brown rice. Absolutely no sugar at all in the diet whatsoever.

    Last week I called the Dr. to ask them to do esophagus stretch since Jim had limited capabilities eating food by mouth. Immediately they wanted to place a stent in and I refused. I asked them why not the stretch and they said due to the cancer it won't work and they wanted us to go back to the same Dr. who had misdiagnosed him previously with achalasia not cancer. I again said NO. So last Monday we went in to speak with the surgeon (Thoracic) and pleaded our case for a stretch and he finally agreed, but said it probably won't work. Well last Friday, they went in and easily stretched his esophagus from 4 mm to 16 mm and Jim can now eat normally. But remarkably the surgeon came out quite perplexed. He said that he didn't see any cancer inside the esophagus anymore, only scar tissue. CAT 1 month ago still showed tumor inside esophagus but it is now gone. He also said that his esophagus looked smoothe and pliable, easy to stretch and that he said it was a good thing we didn't go stent route because there wouldn't be any place to attach the stent to. So, once again, Jim is defying the odds and is doing extremely well.

    And second:

    I currently am using Oleander at 4 capsules per day along with Curcumin, Lovastatin+gamma vitamin E, Fish Oil, Budwig, Quercetin, Selenium, Iodine, Astragalus, and some other items along with conventional chemo for metastatic Melanoma of the lung with excellent results.  There has been no spread and the tumors have all shrunk, some significantly.

    JAMA: Breast and Prostate Cancer Over-Screening Dangerous

    According to a new analysis just published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), over-screening for prostate cancer and breast cancer are resulting in finding cancers that do not need to be found because they would never spread and kill or even be noticed if left alone. Such a finding runs counter to everything people have been told about cancer and according to the analysis, such screening has led to a huge increase in cancer diagnoses of innocuous cancers would have otherwise gone undetected.

    The analysis, "Rethinking Screening for Breast Cancer and Prostate Cancer" also found that both screening tests are not making much of a dent in the number of cancers that actually are of a deadly variety. Many lethal breast cancers spread rapidly and gain a foothold between mammograms while prostate cancers have often already spread at the time of cancer screening. The problem inherent for breast and prostate screening is that it is often not clear which tumors need aggressive treatment. It is believed that a major reason for that being the casee is because studying it has not been a priority.

    "The issue here is, as we look at cancer medicine over the last 35 or 40 years, we have always worked to treat cancer or to find cancer early," Dr. Barnett Kramer, associate director for disease prevention at the National Institutes of Health, said. "And we never sat back and actually thought, `Are we treating the cancers that need to be treated?` "

    According to Dr. Kramer, finding insignificant cancers is the reason the breast and prostate cancer rates soared when screening was introduced. Those cancers, Kramer said, are the reason screening has the problem called overdiagnosis - labeling innocuous tumors cancer and treating them as though they could be lethal when they are in fact not dangerous.

    "Overdiagnosis is pure, unadulterated harm," he said.

    The chief and program director of the urology division at the University of Connecticut Health Center, Dr. Peter Albertsen, said that the message about overdiagnosis had not been an easy one to get across. "Politically, it`s almost unacceptable," Dr. Albertsen said. "If you question overdiagnosis in breast cancer, you are against women. If you question overdiagnosis in prostate cancer, you are against men."

    The analysis is hardly the first one to cast doubt about the assumption that regular mammograms save lives. A previous study by researchers from the University of Nebraska and the John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, Ill found that 2,970 women must be screened for breast cancer in order to prevent even one death.

    "For a woman in the screening subset of mammography-detectable cancers, there is a less than 5 percent chance that a mammogram will save her life," wrote the researchers.

    Other problem areas for breast cancer screenings include the dangers of radiation as well as the dangers of activating tumors and spreading cancer when the breasts are tightly squeezed during mammograms.

    Breast Cancer Deception Month – Hiding the Truth beneath a Sea of Pink

    Each year during Breast Cancer Awareness Month the country is awash from shore to shore in a sea of pink – from pink ribbons and donation boxes to pink products, charity promotions, celebrities by the score and even pink cleats on NFL players. Tragically, most people are unaware of the dark history of Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM) and the players past and present who have misused it to direct people and funds away from finding a true cure while covering up their own roles in causing and profiting from cancer.

    An Oleander and Pancreatic Cancer Testimonial

    After I posted a story about Patrick Swayze's death from pancreatic cancer and his misplaced faith in chemotherapy, the following testimonial was posted at my Yahoo "oleandersoup" group:

    My Stepdad is still alive after being diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer two years ago.  He has never had any mainstream treatment other than a stent to bypass the tumor.  He still has the cancer but has lived a mostly pain free and quality life for the last two years.  He is also 80 years old and was playing golf up until about 1 month ago.  He is still getting out and about but doesn't golf anymore due to the external stent he now has.  He has been taking the Oleander for almost 2 years along with other supplements and I beleive this is the only reason he is still with us,along with his great attidude which is a big part of it too.  I am certain he would have been long gone if he had ever started chemo.  What a shame that people have so much faith in mainstream medicine.  My Stepdad always asks the doctor have you found a cure and they say "NO" and he then says I am not interested.  Even his doctor quietly agreed that he made the right decision.  All his hospice nurses are amazed when they find out his story although they are always trying to push pain medicine, but he tells them he doesn't need it.  Many thanks to Tony, Mark & Luella for giving us precious years with our loving Stepdad!!!

    Many people who have used oleander extract in one form or another have had success against pancreatic cancer, and I believe that it can be extremely valuable when combined with other proven pancreatic cancer fighters such as blackseed oil (Nigella sativa) and digestive enzymes (especially those that contain chymotrypsin and serrapeptase) and incorporated into an overall lifestyle and protocol designed to beat cancer, such as the one I suggest.

    The last two pancreatic cancer patients who opted for the patented medicine version of oleander extract, Anvirzel, had the following results at the end of six months:

    One, who combined it with chemo was cancer free.  The other had his cancer stabilized and it was no longer progressing.

    I do not favor chemo, but in some instances chemo and oleander may be a better combination than oleander by itself - though normally oleander by itself is more effective than the combination and the least effective of all is chemo by itself.  I will note that people who use the combination are under the guidance of a mainstream oncologist who uses the oleander as a complimentary alternative medicine (CAM), and with good reason:  oleander either greatly lessens or eliminates virtually all known chemo side effects.  I will also note that those who use Anvirzel, especially under the guidance of a mostly mainstream doctor, are not likely to embrace a complete anti-cancer protocol such as the one I advise for people who choose to use oleander:

    Could Root Canals be the Root Cause of Your Cancer or other Illness?

    The principal lesson I've learned from ten years of trying to help people heal their cancer is that there are literally hundreds of ways to kill cancer cells and get the body back in balance. What all cancer patients and us authors need to understand, however, is that none of these will heal us until we address and treat the CAUSE of the cancer.

    All my work with hundreds of people on the phone proves to me every day that there are two major causes of cancer that no doctor (or researcher) pays enough attention to. The first is emotional events and stress. The second (which I think is the really big elephant in the room) is root canal teeth and cavitations in the jawbone. Think about it. No doctor ever explores the patient's dental history. Yet it has been proved by many dentists and oral surgeons I respect that virtually all degenerative disease starts in the dentist's chair (see "The Roots of Disease" by Robert Kulacz, D.D.S.).

    I have worked with hundreds of people who have struggled with all kinds of conventional and alternative treatment. Nothing seems to work to heal them. When these people finally wake up to the above and get their mouths cleaned up, they get well in weeks -- not months. Almost everyone (85-90% of the people I work with) has root canal-filled teeth. One lady had 13 of 'em. They are ALWAYS related to the cancer. No exceptions.

    Dr. Thomas Levy, one of the world's experts on dental toxicity, told me he had done a study with Dr. Hal Huggins from 1994-2000. They removed "over 5,000 root canal-filled teeth." He said they took every one of them to the lab and tested it. Every one of them had toxins coming out of it "more toxic than botulism." His exact words. You can see on a thermogram the root canal tooth with its inflammation on the exact same meridian as the cancer tumor in the breast, colon, prostate, etc., etc. There are over 40 million root canal fillings done in the U.S. alone every year. Is it any wonder we are all getting sick?

    I don't want to rant. But rather than trying to find the magic substance and protocol to kill off the cancer cells, we should all concentrate on helping people deal with the cause of their cancer.

    Chemo Does Not Cure - Often It Inflicts Damage and Spreads Cancer

    For years now, many of us who advocate natural health and natural approaches to beating cancer have warned against the dangers and the ineffectiveness of chemotherapy.  The following report illustrates how chemo actually spreads cancer cells, as well as points out how little we are being told about the dangers of chemo:

    As reported at the 27th Annual San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium, Dec 2004, (abstract 6014), German investigators from Friedrich-Schiller University in Jena, have shown that taxol (the "gold standard of chemo") causes a massive release of cells into circulation.

    Such a release of cancer cells would result in extensive metastasis months or even years later, long after the chemo would be suspected as the cause of the spread of the cancer. This little know horror of conventional cancer treatment needs to be spread far and wide, but it is not even listed in the side effects of taxol.

    As has oft been stated, chemo does not cure cancer - it merely attempts to eliminate the tumors and cancer cells that are symptoms of the underlying causes of cancer, and does so with little success and great risks.  In some instances it may appear to eliminate tumors and cancer cell masses, though most often it merely destroys some of the cancer cells.  In the process, it often inflicts a very high price.

    Besides spreading cancer cells, chemo inflicts serious and perhaps irreversible damage to the immune system, the body's natural first line of defense against cancer and other illness - thus paving the way for the remaining cancer cells or future cancers to overwhelm a body that is even less able to beat the cancer that got past the immune system in the first place.

    Chemo also frequently results in serious and even fatal damage to major organs are also damaged, particularly the liver - which as cancer pioneer Max Gerson observed is always impaired to begin in those who get cancer.  The heart is also frequently seriously damaged.

    The end result is that chemo kills more patients than it "cures".  Most of those deaths are the result of liver or heart failure.  Statistically, it has been estimated that the five year success rate from chemo is only about 3% (meaning only about 3% more patients who opted for chemo survived at least five years than did those who opted to not undergo chemo).  But even that meager statistic is misleading in two key ways:

    First of all, though survival rates are slightly higher for the first couple of years compared to those who opted out of chemo, after the third year the survival rate for those who opted out is greater than those who were treated with chemo and the gap widens significantly every year after that.

    And, perhaps most important of all, the survival rates compare all of those who either undergo chemotherapy or decide against it.  That includes the very large number of people who do little or nothing to address their chemo naturally and merely forego chemo.  If chemo survival rates were compared with those of people who not only opted out of chemo, but also chose a non-invasive natural protocol to eliminate the toxins and other causes of cancer, boost their immune systems and attack the cancer naturally without inflicting damage to the rest of the body there would surely be no comparison.

    You can bet that it is a comparison the cancer industry never wants to make.

    An Apple a Day Keeps Breast Cancer Away, Six Studies Conclude

    Quercitin Helps Prevent Colon Cancer

    ScienceDaily (Feb. 10, 2009) — A tiny molecule found in most plant-based foods douses the flames before damaging lesions can form in the colon, according to a study by Texas AgriLife Research scientist Dr. Nancy Turner.

    Fatal Allergic Reactions Triggered By Common Chemotherapy Drug

    A new study presented at the 45th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology held recently in Orlando, reported that a chemotherapy drug intended to help save cancer patients' lives, instead resulted in life-threatening and sometimes fatal allergic reactions.

    The study from the Research on Adverse Drug Events and Reports (RADAR) program at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine identified 287 unique cases of hypersensitivity reactions submitted to the FDA's Adverse Event Report System between 1997 and 2007 with 109 (38 percent) deaths in patients who received Cremophor-based paclitaxel, a solvent-administered taxane chemotherapy.

    Since adverse event reports generally only represent from 1 to 10 percent of actual incidences, the number of hypersensitivity reactions and deaths is likely much higher.

    Two patients who died from an allergic reaction had early-stage breast cancer, which had been surgically removed, and were being treated with Cremophor-containing paclitaxel to prevent the cancer from coming back. Both of these patients had received medications before the chemotherapy to reduce the risk of hypersensitivity reactions. Another four women with early-stage breast cancer experienced life-threatening anaphylaxis reactions. Each of them had received prior medications to prevent the reactions.

    The study was led by Charles Bennett, M.D., RADAR program coordinator and a professor of hematology/oncology at Northwestern's Feinberg School, and Dennis Raisch, a professor of pharmacy at the University of New Mexico.

    "The deaths of women with early-stage breast cancer are particularly disturbing because without the adverse reaction, they could have likely had 40 years of life ahead of them," Bennett said.

    RADAR investigators also found that 22 percent of all fatalities occurred in patients despite patients having received premedication to prevent hypersensitivity reactions, while another 15 percent of such patients experienced life-threatening respiratory arrest.

    The severe allergic reactions are believed to be caused by Cremophor, which is a chemical solvent derived from castor oil that is used to dissolve some insoluble drugs before they can be injected into the blood stream.
