My Story - How I Went from Writing a Book to Exposing and Dodging Crooks

This is the simple story of a struggling and aspiring writer, naturopathic health researcher and would-be entrepreneur living in Utopia, Texas.  It is my story:

For over ten years now, I have worked off and on researching ways to help people live longer, healthier and happier lives.  I think that my research begin after I finally realized that I was not going to be young and immortal forever after all and perhaps I should take a loog at regaining some years I had likely lost to poor diet and lifestyle decisions as well as the toxins in our air, water and food supply.

A couple of years into my research, a dream began to form of someday putting up a website aimed primarily at addressing the health, wellness, happiness, and recreational concerns of the aging baby boomers, a group that includes me.  Then, about five years ago, I found that my cousin, a life-long best friend and running buddy as well, had been diagnosed with stage 3 melanoma, and so I turned my attention to cancer and possible remedies that might save my beloved cousin's life.  As a result of this new focus, I ended up joining a handful of cancer related forum groups on Yahoo.

One day my research led me to a medicine named Anvirzel, an oleander extract based on a 2000+ year old Turkish folk remedy that had been discovered by Doctor H. Z. Ozel around 1960 and used successfully for over 40 years in Turkey.  This discovery led me to join the Anvirzel forum, where he encountered an alias named Boris Batenov (I kid you not - and he even had a female alias, among dozens of others, of Natashya Fatale), who was engaged in a wild vendetta against the company that manufactured Anvirzel, Phoenix Biotech, while promoting a new Anvirzel drug named Xenavex made by a company named ShimodaAtlantic Oncology Biosciences, LLC.

Another forum I joined was named Oleandersoup the name of a homemade version of the extract made much the same way it has been made for countless centuries (a forum I later resurrected and am now moderator of.  Boris also attacked the homemade version. Since it appeared that an oleander extract might offer promise for my cousin, I decided to investigate the accusations that were flying back and forth and found the ones made by Boris to be bogus.  I also found and verified many instances where both the patented Anvirzel and the home-made remedy had cured late stage and hopeless cancers.  In the course of doing this, I ended up with well over 200 emails to me or the group from "Boris" and his other alias of "Natashya" and less than half that many from the President of Phoenix.  When I ultimately determined that Phoenix was in the right on the issue, "Boris" and his other aliases promptly labeled me as an agent of Phoenix. Ultimately, the acrimony and lies led to the Anvirzel forum being shut down, much like the GECC board was shut down at the Lycos Raging Bull forum board site after various Bolt aliases made a mockery of it with slander and lies.

Later, at another forum group named Cancer Alternatives, I again encountered Boris.  When Boris once again began to make posts attacking Phoenix and the home-made oleander remedy, while again promoting Shimoda and Xenavex, I told the forum about Boris and posted some excerpts from his vicious attacks on other forum sites.  I also made passing mention of something he had seen on another forum site:  that he had heard that ShimodaAtlantic might be a pump and dump scam.  This was on or about March 17th of this year.  The next day, I received a private email from "Boris" saying "well played" and then threatening me with Shimoda "suing the snot" out of me.

By Monday March 20th, 2005 I had received a number of threatening emails from someone representing themselves as Shimoda's in-house counsel threatening to put me in jail and demanding that I sign a voluntary injection against any further posts.  Likewise, the forum moderator received a series of emails from the person who was supposed to be the president of Shimoda demanding the posts be removed and that I be suspended from the forum, in addition to threatening to sue both the moderator and Yahoo.  The topper, however, was that bright and early that same day two people showed up unexpectedly at the office of a company I had recently done work for. One identified himself to be a representative of ShimodaAtlantic, and the other said he was a U.S. Marshall!  They demanded a physical description of me, my phone number and address, and information on the make and model of car I drove.  They mentioned that the FBI was involved and that I had even been turned in to Homeland Security.

I was dumbfounded, to say the least, but I immediately knew that something was wrong with the whole scenario.  First of all, no legitimate company reacts in such an overboard manner over a couple of objectionable lines in an obscure internet forum group of less than 200 members.  Second of all, I knew that it was not in a real U.S. Marshall's list of duties to help private companies locate someone who posted information they objected to, and that no government agency would react so swiftly.  Nevertheless, I responded to the so-called counsel for Shimoda to the effect that I would gladly retract what I had posted and apologize if only they would point out what they found objectionable and prove that I was wrong.  I also warned them to leave me alone, pointing out that I had no connections whatsoever with Phoenix, as they alleged, but that I did happened to have over 15 years experience in investigations as well as a background in journalism, and would not be a wise choice of adversaries.

The Shimoda response was to keep threatening me and continue trying to find me, including sending emails to previous co-workers as well as friends who had received a Xmas email that also went to "Boris" before I knew what kind of character he was.  Once again, I informed Shimoda that I had no connections with Phoenix and again warned them to leave me alone.  When they refused to listen, I decided that instead of buckling under I would fight back, and so I began to investigate "Boris Batenov" and Shimoda.

He soon discovered ties to GECC and to a convicted felon named Jim Bolt, who was wanted on a bench warrant from Oklahoma City for failure to appear in the Terry Nichols trial.  I found the connections to LEC and Operation Uptick and the east coast crime syndicates, and to a white supremacist militia group in NW Arkansas.  Quite frankly, I found myself scared sh-tless and spent more than a few nights jumping at things that went bump in the dark!  But I pressed on, determined not to give in to the forces of darkness that appeared to be after me.

What I did not find was the touted class 10 lab nor any other facilities for ShimodaAtlantic other than a small office in a retail strip center in Springdale, Arkansas that had been taken over from John Culbertson - a person who was alleged to have images of the Murray building in OKC immediately before, during and after it was bombed.  Neither did I find any proof of Shimoda ever working for the Department of Defense, or for Hughes Aircraft (now Raytheon), as alleged on their website.  Or contracts with Wal-Mart.  Or any real people who actually worked for Shimoda, other than Jim Bolt whom I ultimately found to have ownership connections to at least 50% of Shimoda on a damning PPM that turned up along with a FAX from Jim Bolt on behalf of Shimoda.  I even discovered that the photos on the Shimoda website had been lifted from image reseller websites and the "copyright" watermarks poorly airbrushed out.

Ultimately, I also found that the so-called FDA trials touted by Shimoda had never been applied for nor granted and that the drug itself was actually a heart medication imported from Russia that was lacking many of the synergistic compounds that made the real oleander extract so effective against cancer and other diseases. As my reward, I got to see my name posted on the G E C C forum board literally hundreds of times with false allegations of a criminal background, child pornography, trading drugs for sex with elementary school students (taken from a sarcastic post I made wondering what kind of slander was coming next), drug use and drug running, deviant sex, and on and on. I even had the horrifying experience of seeing a Jim Bolt alias try to lure kids to an internet forum group I hosted about oleander soup and get them to make their own oleander extract, mix it with vodka and mainline it - which would likely have been fatal.  Just so this despicable man could strike back at me.  Fortunately, I discovered the evil plot in time and tragedy was averted.

Eventually the truth was found out, Bolt and his many aliases were identified, including "Boris" and "Natashya" and the fake in-house counsel for Shimoda.  Much to my relief, I also found that the felonious Jim Bolt was just a criminal version of the great Wizard of Oz, living in a travel trailer while his cancer ridden wife had to work to support him and the family while he plotted his schemes and attacked his opponents.  Sadly, one of the people who Bolt tricked into switching over to the fake medicine passed away the first part of May. His name was Patrick Scranton and I considered him a friend through the many emails we exchanged and his moderation of the Anvirzel group forum on Yahoo groups.  His DSRCT cancer tumors had been in remission and shrinking when he took Anvirzel.  They returned and continued to grow when, at Bolt's urging, he stopped taking it, and they continued to grow when he took the less effective medication that Bolt foisted on him.  I know that vengeful thinking is wrong, but in my heart I hope that Bolt realizes his just rewards for what I believe he did to Patrick.

Because of the efforts of myself, and many others who have long followed the schemes and misdeeds of Jim Bolt, all of the information mentioned here and much more was turned over to more federal and state agencies than Bolt can imagine.  A lengthy multi-agency probe out of Washington, DC finally returned a multi-count indictment against Bolt and his co-conspirators and the evidence runs over 1500 pages. Trial is scheduled to commence in March, 2007 and I am confident that Judgment Day is coming and it will not be kind. All because Jim Bolt continued refused to listen to the truth and listened only to the inner demons that drive him to commit such misdeeds and whisper in his ear that he is much smarter than he really is and that he should attack all who oppose him unmercifully.  Just like he attacked me, who stood firm against the attacks and fought back for truth and justice.

Today, I am sleeping a bit better, and the outlook is a finally a bright one after a long struggle and financial losses due to being side-tracked by the felon Jim Bolt and having to hide and fight back for so many months - the result of which was that I found my resources depleted just at the time that I finished my first simple e-book without the ability to properly market and refine it and it languishes until now as a little known book.. 

Quite recently, two internet business whiz guys contacted me and were very enthusiastic about promoting the new version of the book and so plans are in the works and we shall see what transpires.  A second book “Collected Remedies” has been completed (actually it is a work that is constantly being updated) and I have a couple of other book projects in the hopper, including an expanded and re-named version of my original book which will be titled “Cancer’s Natural Enemies”.

It is my dream and my plan to ultimately be able to live or travel wherever I want and to be able to at least eke out a living with my websites and books while helping people live longer, healthier and happier lives. And I must say that there is quite a bit of the world and this country that I would like to see.

And if I am only able to do the helping part without the income, then my journey will still have been a rich one.

You know, no one ever promised that life's path would be smooth and easy, and I think that when do take the inevitable spill, you just have to pick yourself back up, perhaps a bit nicked here and there, and hopefully a bit wiser and just keep putting one foot in front of the other, with a smile on your face, hope in your heart, and, in my case anyway, perhaps a bit of laughter and mischief in your eyes.

P.S.  As an interesting aside: After my help in exposing Bolt and Shimoda-Atlantic, I was given a tip about a series of bogus websites run by the former “porn king of Dade County Florida”, Arthur VanMoor, who was deported from the US a few years ago.  I did a bit of checking, found his CancerCure and FluFightersLab sites to be obviously bogus and passed on the information to The International Wellness Directory who ended up publishing and expose that was later picked up by Dr. Ralph Moss and then by Fox News, who made it into a three part feature of the week – and took all the credit for it!

VanMoor’s response was to sue David Bonnelo of the Wellness Directory, Fox News, et al, and to put up a hilarious fake website purporting to be an investigative report: http://www.todayshealth.org/ which later spread to other so-called news websites - though most of them have now been taken off the internet. I am listed as one off the bad guys in the “investigative report”.  Ed Hensley is a trial attorney in San Antonio and Austin and is “the father of oleander soup”.  It was he who passed the tip along to me about VanMoor’s bogus sites.  I think the most impressive item on the entire site has to be VanMoor’s photograph and his subsequent statement “I have taken this product every day for the last 11 years (except the time I was locked up). I will E mail you a web cam picture so you can see I look healthy and much younger then my age. Are you going to believe me now, me who is never sick or Bonello who looks like he is sick?”
